They always answer for questions wherever is via direct e-mail or through app. If they can’t answer fully they will forward you to the right place. Yes. An invoice is legally valid if it contains the mandatory information required under Section 14 of the German VAT Act (UStG), regardless of which software was used to create it or whether that software costs money. Accountable automatically includes the required information: the name and address of both parties, tax number or VAT ID, invoice date, sequential invoice number, description of the goods or services provided, date of service, net amount, tax rate, and tax amount.
Yes. If you use the small business regulation (Kleinunternehmer) under Section 19 of the German VAT Act (UStG), Accountable does not charge VAT and automatically adds the required notice to your invoice. You don’t have to formulate the wording yourself or remember to add it.
Yes, invoices created with Accountable are archived in compliance with GoBD requirements. For VAT purposes, invoices are generally subject to a retention period of eight years and must be archived in a way that ensures they cannot be altered and remain traceable.
Yes, you can also create e-invoices with Accountable’s free plan. Accountable generates e-invoices in XRechnung and ZUGFeRD formats and supports Peppol. An invoice sent as a PDF does not qualify as an e-invoice. An e-invoice requires a structured data set that the recipient’s system can read.

The live preview shows you what the finished invoice will look like as a PDF. It’s easiest to set this up in the invoice editor on a laptop. Yes, you can choose from most foreign currencies in the invoice editor. Accountable also supports the reverse-charge mechanism for EU B2B transactions. For services provided to businesses in other EU countries, the reverse-charge mechanism applies in many cases, meaning the invoice is issued without German VAT and includes the appropriate notice.
