Step 1 - Double check your accounting

If you have done this already before submitting your EÜR, you can skip the first step and continue with Step 2.

1.1) Check all your expenses 💸

The first thing you need to do to submit your annual VAT declaration is to make sure you have added all of your professional expenses from the entire last year to your app.

If you forgot something and want to add it before submitting your annual declaration, here's a short guide on how to add an expense to a locked period.

Watch out, if you have documents "to review" at the top of your expense list, they will not count in your VAT declaration. Make sure all your expenses are in order to proceed to the next step.

1.2) Check your revenues 💰

The second step is to make sure that all of your professional revenue from the last year are present in the app. This means that all the invoices you sent out in the last year need to be uploaded or created and that the ones that have been paid, are marked as paid.

Similarly to expenses, only invoices that are "in order" will count in your VAT returns.

Step 2 - Complete all the tax checks

To complete all the tax checks, please go to your annual closing and click "review and submit" on your VAT declaration (USt-Erklärung).

On the first page you will find the tax checks. If you have encoded everything correctly, all checks will be marked green and there is nothing left to do. In case you find some warning, please click on the warning and check if there is something left for you to do. That might be the case if you have not reviewed an expense or forgot to upload the receipt. The app will always double-check everything and warn you.

Step 3 - Submit your annual VAT declaration

3.1) Continue to step 2 of your USt-Erklärung and verify your personal information at the top of the page.

3.2) Once you have checked your personal data, you can hit the "submit to the Finanzamt" button.

After submitting your VAT declaration to the Finanzamt you will receive a confirmation of the submission.
