Being able to deduct part of those expenses would, of course, be very appealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">According to certain court rulings (Li\u00e8ge, 06.05.1992; Mons, 18.04.1997; Ghent, 17.06.2008 and 02.02.2010), wedding expenses can fall under the category of hospitality costs. <strong>This means they can be 50% tax-deductible, similar to business receptions and dinners.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">However, the reality is a bit more complex. <strong>Tax authorities generally view wedding celebrations as personal expenses, and tax inspectors often challenge such deductions. <\/strong>(QP 751 of 20.10.1993, QP of 24.11.1998, and QP 276 of 24.02.2004)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"how-can-you-deduct-wedding-expenses-from-taxes\" class=\"wp-block-heading font-degular scroll-mt-32\">How can you deduct wedding expenses from taxes?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">To claim part of your wedding as a business expense, <strong>you must prove that it had a professional purpose<\/strong>. This can be done by <strong>inviting clients, business partners, employees, or other professional contacts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s also essential to deduct <strong>only the business-related portion of the expenses<\/strong>\u2014and be prepared to justify this during a tax audit.
