The costs of the vehicle registration tax (BIV) and the annual road tax are tax-deductible to the same extent as your company car is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">If your car is 70% tax-deductible, the same principle applies to the registration tax and the road tax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s a nice bonus, because both bills can sometimes be quite steep \u2013 especially since you pay these costs without really getting anything in return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"the-deduction-rate-for-your-company-car-and-car-expenses\" class=\"wp-block-heading font-degular scroll-mt-32\">The deduction rate for your company car and car expenses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">The maximum tax deductibility of your car depends on two factors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list list-decimal list-outside ml-0 mb-4 space-y-2\">\n\n<li class=\"font-inter text-base text-black\">The gram formula based on your car\u2019s CO2 emissions.<br><strong>120%- (0.5% x [coefficient] x CO2 )<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n<li class=\"font-inter text-base text-black\">The professional use.<\/li>\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">Suppose the gram formula gives you a maximum deductibility of 90% and you use the car for professional purposes 80% of the time: the tax deductibility is then 72% (80% of 90%). Do you use the car exclusively for professional purposes? You pay this tax in order to use public roads in Belgium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">You receive this tax bill automatically after buying your car. The exact amount depends on, among other things, the type of vehicle, the fuel type, the CO2 emissions, the Euro standard and the date of first registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">You pay the registration tax (BIV) once per vehicle, and it is tax-deductible to the same extent as your other car expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"road-tax\" class=\"wp-block-heading font-degular scroll-mt-32\">Road tax<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black wp-block-paragraph\">Once your company car is officially registered and you have paid the BIV, you will also have to pay an annual <a class=\"font-inter text-purple underline underline-offset-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vlaanderen.be\/belastingen-en-begroting\/vlaamse-belastingen\/verkeersbelastingen\">road tax<\/a>.
